Red One review
Rating: VERY GOOD. It's an enjoyable clash between some of the bright and dark characters of Christmas tradition, which bounces between the mundane world and more magical settings. The variety of creatures mingling in certain locations reminded me of Star Wars, and I'd like to see action figures of a lot of them. It's mildly comedic, but mostly an action fantasy.
Woke level: LOW to NONE. The character arcs counter Neo-Marxist misanthropy and misandry with more nuanced views of humanity and individuals. There's even a pro-fitness sub-theme.
Recommendation: SEE IT if you think you would enjoy folkloric fights and magitech action without too much Taika Waititi humor. I enjoyed it on the small screen, but I think that it's grand enough that it would have benefited from a big screen.

It is in my top three Christmas movies. Scrooge (1970) first and tie between Red One and Violent Night.

Wow, it sounds like an instant classic for you. I'm glad that the film is already finding people who appreciate it.
